I definitely prefer crystal colors, but they're usually more difficult to find, and often not available at all :/

Hi,

Basically I like most colors when it comes to balloons, because what really does the trick is their ability to pop - and their ‘not being predictable’. To me it is all about the excitement deriving from this. However colors do play some role. Crystal colored balloons look more fragile and sort of boost the excitement because they seem more likely to explode any moment. Besides their colors are vibrant and stunningly beautiful - especially when the balloons are blown up right to the bursting point.
On the other hand pastel colored balloons are really really cute and greatly appeal me - I often think of these colors as being kind of feminin
Finally the socalled standard colors are the balloon colors I remember from my childhood, And this also means something as you can well imagine. Besides the ‘solid’ colored balloons have kind of a twistedexcitement boost to them, because even though they look less likely to suddenly explode than the crystal colored ones, I of course know they are just as likely to pop anyway. Does that make any sense?

I guess it all comes down to me liking most balloons regardless of them being crystal, pastel, standard or whatever. It is the excitement of the risk of popping, that ‘gets me’.
However the different color tones all have something to them. The same goes for the colors (red, blue, etc.) by the way. I guess it is all part of the psychological ‘trickery’ that made us get into this thing with balloons.

Thank you for reading my posting.

Sincerely
Susie

I personally like both crystal and pastel colors, they both really get me going. However I have to say pastel colors they have something to them that just makes them so pretty, maybe it's just personal preference.

Wow what a nuanced post Susie! I'm right there with you when it comes to preference of type of balloon because I am definitely a fan of all types. I actually have preference of crystal/standard/pastel based on brand, and I agree that there's definitely some sort of psychological influence on preference. Personally I like crystal colors because of the way the light catches them and the way they can really illuminate a room. My absolute favorite type of 16-17" crystal loon however is the clear balloon though. I gotta say when I see a sea of crystal 16" uniques no matter the color, I gotta really restrain myself because all I want to do is just dive right into them and hear them bang and bang and bang as I roll all over them, nail pop them, squeeze them against my body, bite them, make them pop in front of my face or next to my ear (super unsafe, I know... but I just can't help myself), and untie them so they can meet their extra loud demise with BTP explosions and ribbons of latex and "confettification"-- and I'll just lay there in the sea loons and watch the shards shower all over me. TBH I really really love crystal 17" Tuf-tex loons, but I'll never inflate more than 25-30 at a time because they are definitely my upper limit when it comes to fear/excitement (because I need both feelings for an extra good loon session) because they seem like they can just get tighter and tighter, and ever more transparent before the spectacular BOOM! I'd definitely say off the cuff that I'd definitely prefer popping in rapid succession crystal balloons despite their size.

When it comes to pastels however, unless I'm buying a bunch of 9-12"ers from a local store, I only order them in Bebal 14" and Unique 16"; and I absolutely love the colors they come in. And if I'm ordering "standard" colors I usually reserve those of extra large +36" loons, GL500's, or Cattex longnecks. I rarely pop my huge balloons except after a few sessions but it's no holds barred for anything 16" or smaller. Psychologically, I actually feel as if I want to take my time with these loons though, so I'm less inclined to rapidly pop them. Sometimes I even underinflate the pastels so that I can get more durability out of them. The pastel colors feel so rare that I want to savor them. Of course (look at my name lol) they're gonna get popped, but I actually think the methods that I pop them are different because I also believe that they "way" or the shredding that they make when they explode is slightly different. Now crystals definitely can make some excellent "ribbons" and shards after they pop, but I feel as if pastel balloons actually kinda "fracture" or break apart as oppose to tear apart when they explode. I like to stomp on pastels, STP, and hump and squeeze them because they feel less elastic to me. Like if I were to blow and blow there would eventually be an upper limit to how big and there'd be very little transparency to them. To me that adds to the excitement/mystery when they pop though. So when I pop pastels, I believe I there are much more pieces to the loon left behind, which is super gratifying. Especially with a BTP, which maybe it's just my head, but they don't seem as loud to me, but the absolute showering of hundreds of shards as I BTP one straight up in the air can be exhilarating or near orgasmic. Well not orgasmic, but definitely it gives me that rush to pop more and more.

I definitely prefer the aesthetics of how the crystals look in bulk, but I'll never pass up a good bunch/cluster/sea/room of pastels and colors. And just like you Susie, the classic colors remind me of childhood, which is something nice and nostalgic.
