    Many other female looners?

So I am female, and always seem to be greatly outnumbered on these types of sites by males ...

Are there really far less of us about, or is it just that women don't generally like posting about it online (I've been ok so far, no bad experiences, but certainly know it can be a bit of a minefield being female and posting on the internet, especially with regard to fetishes and I had to come off of Fetlife previously just because the number of messages I was getting was just overwhelming and off putting)

So are there really less of us, or do we just post less?

    Re: Many other female looners?

I guess it's hard to tell. If female looners don't post as much there's no real way of knowing. If you look at the stats on this forum there's always lots of guests. It seems like almost 90% of looners don't post anything. It certainly looks like there's a much higher ratio of males to females but it's possible that's not the case. Some people may not even know there's a community out there. Most of us thought we were alone until we discovered this place.
How big will it go? Only one way to find out...

I've dated a woman with a balloon fetish, so I know they're out there. Sadly, I think most women that have had the guts to join a board and chat have been scared off by the men that are idiots and too aggressive. I don't get why men act that way.

I'm into feminization if it counts for anything...

Probably not, but just thought I'd throw it out.

          Re: Many other female looners?

There are a couple of things at play when asking this question, I come from a data and analytics background so I'll try to keep it readable

The 1% rule and the 90-9-1 rule are actively at play. The 1% rule states that of 100 users, only 1 will create content. The 90-9-1 rule states that per 100 users, 1 will create content, 9 will contribute, and 90 will lurk. This applies to just about every discussion forum out there.

So, using those rules suppose there are 100 women who are looners in the world. Only 10 (ish) are going to be creating or contributing content (posts, stories, pics, etc) while the other 90 are going to lurk.

Also, Internet forum users typically favor men. A poll by the Pew research center found that it was a 20:11 ratio. So any discussion forum will typically have more males as users. So assuming that all of this is true and knowing that there are 1051 members on this site, you can do the math and find that there are approx. 350 females on this site. From there, applying the 90-9-1 rule...about 3 women will create content on here and another 30 will contribute.

Again, those are for typical discussion forums. For a fetish centric forum, I would hedge my bet that there would be an even higher concentration of males which would further reduce the numbers.

Lastly, this does not mean anyone should be trolling through the member list looking for a female sounding screen name. I'll also add that I personally think there are many female looners out there and that many look at posts here but do not want to post or simply do not feel the need to post. Hope that paints an accurate picture of why women posting on here is more rare.

I've always assumed most of the female profiles belong to men trying to bait women, and most of the females were using male profiles to avoid being targeted.

              Re: Many other female looners?

I don't think there is a large difference in the real number of female and male looners.

              There are differences.
Men are more open about their sexual preferences and are usually dominant. Both makes it look like that are more male looners.

I can partly agree on the (mis)behavior of some looners towards females, which makes it harder for (some of) us to speak out. This reduces the visible number of female looners.

The only (real) subset of looners where I can imaging why there could be more male looners are the (former) phobic looners. Being phobic for balloon popping is socially not really accepted for men, but for women it is considered "cute". So (phobic) men are more likely to "practice" with balloons to overcome their fear. And when they do that, there is a chance they get a fetish from that.

              That's my opinion.

The thing is while there a very few female looners responding, I'd also enjoy talking to more female inflatable lovers. So far there are very few of either.

I've chatted to more than a handful of very pleasant women over the years, that shared the fetish for inflatables in some kind or another, and yeah, it's been my experience too that either they had interactions that made them rethink openly talking about their gender, or even talking about it at all. Makes sense though, I've run into my fair share of creeps as well, don't suppose there's much that can be done about people like that, creepers gonna creep and whatnot.

But yeah, do wish more were open about it, or at least that they didn't have to go though the experience of being scared away. I much prefer discussing my fetish with women, for various reasons, not about to force my fetish unto anyone else.

Seems accurate, I usually look at the profiles of users who I suspect are women (or straight up say they are) just out of curiosity for this very topic. I've seen approximately 6 or 7 profiles of which I was fairly certain they were women, so it sounds about right that there might be ~30 contributing on this forum.

Wow, interesting. I guess I'm mostly part of the lurkers. ^^''

I know that it often feels like there are close to none female looners, but I can assure that we are not as small in numbers as it seems.

Well, I guess I'm even more of a rarity as I'm not only a female looner but also homosexual.

That fact makes it even more complicated for me to talk to female looners, because they think I'm just like the men. ^^'

                          Re: Many other female looners?

                          Hi there,

It is very hard to say. For a very long time I thought there were nobody else in the world with feelings about balloons similar to what I had. This meant that to me - and until I stumbled across it on the internet - it was a (one-)female thing, so I was very surprised to find out, that the majority of looners in forums and chats were male. Others have already brought up some very likely reasons for this, so I will leave that aspect be and just write a little about my own experiences:.

I have had both good and bad experiences with guys, but most have been nice. However it seems to me that I look upon things a different way, and most guys seem to quickly lose interest in me, because I am more into emotional stuff and less into the more 'technical' issues. To me the technical part - what kind of balloons, favorite way to pop them, which brand is better etc etc. - rather quickly is done with. Also when I share things with guys it is often so, that I write almost a novel, and the response is a short note - well, I guess that’s just one of those things.

Whenever I am so lucky to stumble upon another female who is willing to get into contact with me, it is often very much easier, as it is much more common that we share at least a somewhat similar perspective. It is also easier to sort of mirror myself into another female than it is with a guy. This all means that very often there is a lot more to talk about.

I do like to post, and I also like to correspond with others, - no matter what gender, but to me there is one thing that is absolutely crucial: I am in a fetish forum to discuss the aspects around this balloon 'thing', trying to understand myself and the way I feel and also to contribute to others as good as I possibly can. - mainly on the emotional level. I am also willing to share whatever 'technical' stuff I can, even though it is not my main interest. However I am definately not in the forum to seek sexual amusement or to partipate in anything like sexual games. It is ok to discuss the sexual issue of course, as this is the one thing that we all (more or less) have in common, but playing sexual games is not at all my thing. When it happens anyway - and some guys can be really 'pushy' - I get sad and feel embarrassed and sometimes even harrassed, and I tend to pull back completely for a while. Need I say, that I have never felt being pushed by another female?

Finally let me say, that I do not have an agenda of criticizing or denying anyone - because who am I to do that? I am merely writing about my own experiences and how I react to them. People can do pretty much as they please - within some certain and much wider limits - just I do not always want to participate. Maybe other female looners feel something similar.....

Before I end I will also say, that as far as I have learned over the years there are quite some females who share this 'thing' with balloons, probably not by far as many as there are guys, but there are quite some. If this is 'many', well that of course depends on what number you relate to. I guess though that if you invited all female looners to your house for a party, and they all showed up, you would say there are many

I don't know whether or not this sheds much light on the issue of this thread, but if only it could cast a tiny glimpse of light I am happy with that

Thank you for reading my posting.

                          Susie

If there is a woman on the other side of the computer, with a balloon fetish, I would ask her please to feel free to write whenever she wants and without needing to say that she is a woman, I think that in this fetish many girls are not seen and that They may be bothered, with private messages non-stop.

I am aware that if I am writing here it is to chat and share experiences, read opinions or express myself about what this is for me; Let's face it, even if there was a girl looner in the forum with whom I got along, what provability there is to know her in person ... it's ridiculous, I prefer to read different points of view and hear her opinions.

Although I have been writing for a short time here, I have been surprised by certain coincidences with others that have made me think that I was not alone in this as I thought, because if it is already rare, the world of balloon fetish is more complicated within our own group.

Being a female looner can be a lonely experience. But I still love being able to come here and read other's thoughts, perspectives and experiences.
