    Qualitex 16" balloon availability??

I have been watching the supply of Qualitex 16" balloon dwindle over the past months. I there any reason for this? Tuftex in the USA have replenished the stock and even added some new colors. It just seem odd the one company can produce and the other is failing, and the big one is failing. I am just asking for thoughts.

Qualatex might not be "failing" per se. If anything, they made an executive decision to stop or lower production of their 16 inchers. They might not be profitable for them. The same reason massive auto manufacturers are only making SUVs now. SUVs are where the profit is.

The supply of ALL Qualatex balloons is low right now due to Covid and the social distancing requirements that have been forced upon businesses. They can't have as many people on the line so fewer balloons get made. Not as many employees in shipping so less balloons go out the door. So large distributors don't have their pre-Covid volume of product coming in the door so there is a lot less balloons available. I was at my local distributor earlier and her inventory is the lowest it's ever been due to not enough supply. The demand is still there but Covid means production can't keep up. This also means that they are probably focusing their limited production on products that are actually in demand.

OK, but Maple City Rubber is keeping up and Pioneer is not. Could this be an automation issue or a local regulatory issue?

It might be that the products are used for different things so the demand for Tuftex balloons could be lower than the demand for Qualatex thus easier to keep supply levels up. It could also be different regulations between Ohio and Kansas with regards to Covid like mentioned above. Could it be that Pioneer has a much larger product catalog than Maple City Rubber?

I agree with the covid measures and the SKU number that Pioneer has to produce so yea, They might be sacrificing the 16" production for 11" I have also seen funsational balloon in Target, so that would eat a lot of machine time to fill the pipeline for a new store.

Of course Pionner is much bigger than Maple City Rubber, maybe that is why they are having more problems with the pandemic.
They have many workers to maintain and their sales have surely dropped a lot due to the lack of social gatherings.
On the other hand TUFTEX is smaller, therefore it has less expenses and less market to cover, perhaps it affects them less economically.
In addition, we have all seen how qualatex has a tendency to sacrifice its largest or most exotic balloons first. It hurts to admit, but their real deal is in the small, cheap balloons that sell in bulk.
