Re: Does size matter

I like ‘em big.
Rarely get overly entertained by anything under 14”
Like them best when they are on about their fifth full inflation, way past their rated size, starting to get a decent neck, but...

Re: What's the loudest and biggest balloon you've blown to pop?

I was giving an 84” Malaysian a little squeeze to test for tightness (very).
I felt the concussion wave through my body when it detonated. Made me feel seriously discombobulated and nauseated, it...

Re: 36 inch balloons from Micheal?

Last time I was there, colours were limited, but I found the quality to be much better than the cheaper Dollarama equivalent. They had slightly longer necks too.
Also, on the other side of the aisle...

Re: Non-popper becomes semi-popper when drinking

Yeah, it's amazing what a few bevvies can do to lessen the phobic side.
A couple of beers, a couple of shots, headphones with the tunes cranked (for some reason "Shake it off" by Ms. Swift on repeat...

Re: Tilco balloons

Would love to get my hands (and lips and, ahem, maybe other body parts) on some of those 40 inchers again.
Seem to recall they also made a 54 inch (or there abouts).
Picked up a whole boxful of 72...

Re: A good read (I hope) - do you believe in fate?

I remember a letter to Men Only, back in the 80's.
It thanked them for a set with a model and big balloons. Editors reply was along the lines of "Yeah, that was over a year ago".
Made me think...

Re: how do you neck balloons??

Here is a pic. The Qtex 36 is the orange one.
Also shows a Cattex longneck 36, which was still a bit squishy, saving for one last tight blow, and a 36 tuftex.
Check Bargain balloons for great...

Re: how do you neck balloons??

Unroll the neck a bit if possible.
On 36" you can add up to an inch of uninflated neck length.
Then inflate just the neck, deflate, and reinflate the neck again. Clip and leave inflated for a...

Re: I want to not be scared

Wearing headphones with loud music helps.
A few drinks seems to lower the stress level.
I also found a way to minimize direct contact with popping, but still get enormous balloons.
You need,
A...

Re: Baking

Baking, boiling, dryer, steaming all seem to help loosen things up.
Baking between 260-290F for between 5 and 30 minutes seems to work. Depends on the brand and how soft it already is.
Boiling for...
