Have you ever looked at a deflated balloon, blew it up and amazed by it's size compared to when it was deflated. I find this a lot with balloons that are made of a thin latex.
Has a balloon ever got a lot bigger than you thought?

The size a 17" Tuftex can get to on the second or third inflation still amazes me. I've also been surprised by the size of some 16" Uniques I tried to (and eventually chickened out of) blow to pop recently. -

It's funny how 'blue548' has started this thread. I have wondered recently how a balloon, which is only a few inches in diameter, straight out of the packet & must only be a millimetre or even less in thickness, can then have the latex stretch when inflated to rated size or more, what the thickness (or should it be thinness) is at that point. It must micrometres. And yet still takes some abuse with bouncing, humping etc. from looners. Balloons are marvellous things.Comment

When doing a b2p I sometimes try to inflate the balloon to the maximum size: it should take me only a single blow after reaching that maximum size to pop the balloon.
For 12 inch balloons I sometimes need 3 breaths instead of 1 and for a 16inch balloon it can be more than 5 additional breaths. So even when inflated, balloons can get much bigger than expected.Comment

Bought a few weather balloons, years ago, back when I was into balloons, expected them to be fully inflated and still not fill my bedroom. I was wrong.Last edited by Banzure; 21-07-2016, 00:09.Bigger is good, but burst is better!Comment

I had a cheap 24" balloon from Party City. They were really cheap, and part of the neck ripped off. I wasn't expecting much but I duct taped what was left of the neck to my pump and it got to around 45" before finally poppingComment
