I accidentally left a geodonut in the shower after I checked out. Felt bad about it. It was not clean.

I've left balloons blown up in several hotels. Three hotels in Australia, a petrol station in Cheshire and an hotel in London. The London ones they had been moved from where I'd left them on the bed and in tasmania the cleaner walked in as I was half way through inflating a 24" she didn't even bat an eyelid. Asked if I needed a refill in the mini bar I stuttered out a no thank you and she left

        Errrrr ok,
So i was away at conference in a hotel in Belfast for 4 days, i had loons in my bed and bullets on the bedside table... i assumed on the sunday of my trip that nobody would come in my room.. .. someone fucking cleaned my room anyway..
Mortified.. no idea what they must have thought of 3 tightly inflated ballons under the covers..
When i got back the bed was made and they were on top..

        Loonacy!!

Re: Have you ever left loons in hotel rooms?

i once left a bb14, a q16 and a tt24 blown up tight in my room and went out for the day. they were still there when i came back late, and still there after breakfast the next morning even though i was pretty sure the maid had been in. popped all three and checked out soon after!

to be honest i bet hotel staff have seen it all, there are way stranger things than balloons!

I've thought about it but never followed through. Something in me just doesn't want to make them do more work than they already have to. Plus popping the balloons or deflating and saving the bigger ones is a lot of fun.

                .
If you are the sort of person who gets a laugh by leaving a bunch of inflated balloons in a hotel room when you check out, and if you don't leave a VERY GENEROUS tip for the maid, then FUCK YOU and the horse you rode in on. You are the worst sort of inconsiderate person.

Yes, this makes me angry because:

                1. The room cleaners get minimum wage if they are lucky -- they are not paid a living wage -- no one can live on their wages.

                2. They are assigned a minimum number of rooms that have to be turned over during their shift. They can lose their job if they don't meet the quota. And they often work for pea-brain morons who delight in being able to fire people.

                3. If it takes them longer than their shift to finish the rooms, they do not get overtime pay -- in fact in many countries they don't even get paid for the extra time it takes them to finish their assignment.

Try to think about the impact your actions have on other people, especially people who are not so wealthy nor as privileged as you.

                .

I don't think I ever did, as they mentioned before, I don't think leaving any kind of obstacle or item to clean will make life easier for the cleaning staff.
You have to have empathy, they already have a difficult enough job for us to make it worse.
Of course I get to have many adventures with my balloons in motels or hotels, but before I go I try to clean the room as much as possible.
A looner looking for fun, against violence or people with hightened moral idealism…. I just care about loons, so don’t ruin the fun.

I leave a tip all the time. I also don't leave an excess of balloons.
                              That being said,
The cleaners clean up far worse things that people leave in hotel rooms than a couple of balloons.

                              But....Karens gonna karen...
