Here we go again LondonLarry. Decent looking balloons for only a £1 at your local Poundland and none at our local store. How come your store is always different to our stores? I/we are jealous.

        I have seen 9", 10", 11", 12" and 14"

guess they had to fill in the missing gap

This bargain looks too good to be true. Are they seconds? Where is the 13" measurement taken? Maybe it's from drip point to neck (with a decent neck) rather than the usual diameter across the body and are really only 9", 10" or stretching things 11".
Balloon Ace are selling 11" Gemar for around £7+ pp.

They blow up to the same size and shape as the old 14" Qualatex if you remember those? Not much bigger 2nd time around, 3rd time around 16" Qualatex size and BANG! it popped when holding it up to admire it. Very thick Qualatex like latex.

Nice - I like Gemar balloons, especially their 'crystal' ones.

As someone who used to work in a pound shop in my teens, the stuff you get to sell can be very region dependant with the bigger city stores (London, Manchester etc) often getting the best deals. Individual pound shops basically sell what they are given and that stock is usually surplus or minor defects from bigger companies that the pound store chains buy in bulk.

Thanks for the info AJK64. It's a shame we all can't enjoy these bargains.
Oh well, on to the next bit of fun.

                    Re: Another Poundland Bargain

I just got some 18" red balloons. Very spurious make, never heard of it before. Blew one up to nearly 24" then let it deflate, these things are HUGE. £1 a bag, red white and blue available, I bought a red bag obviously!

They must have bought a boat load for the jubilee. Googling the word 'KIRMIZI' it appears it's Turkish for red, so maybe these are Turkish balloons?

Question is, how big do they actually get?

Can't tell you how many balloons out there that don't get to their rated size. Kind of why I never buy balloons from shops unless their bubble or foils (their sizes are easy to tell).

As I said they are rated 18" but I got it to the same size as a TT24" then let it deflate.

I looked up their site and on their "about" page it says they ARE from Turkey, and they've been in business since 1996. Their balloons range from 5" to 36".

Another quick search around the site shows that they've gotten deals to sell in the UK and Ireland (the article is dated May 22nd last year) and you can find a list of outlets that sell them.

The good news is for people outside the UK and Ireland that they ALSO seem to be able to be bought directly from their store and shipped straight to your house. Says it'll take 4-8 days for those in the US for example, so us Americans aren't left out if we'd like to "test" them ourselves. :P

I suppose these Turkish balloons are another bargain on sale at your Poundland. Sounds as though they are decent if you can get a rated 18" to 24" and still survives. What hell size are they going to blow up to second time??
